Spotlight on Inflammatory Breast Cancer

From Wikipedia:

Inflammatory breast cancer is an especially aggressive type of breast cancer that can occur in women of any age (and, although extremely rarely, in men). It gets its name from the red, swollen, inflamed appearance of the breast. It is unique because it often does not present with a lump and therefore often is not detected by mammography or ultrasound. IBC only makes up 1-6% of all breast cancer cases in the USA. IBC is usually diagnosed in younger women (average age of 57 years old). African-Americans are usually diagnosed at younger ages than Caucasian women, and also have a higher risk of getting IBC.

(On a personal note, if you are in need of a low cost mammogram and/or cervical exam (and I took advantage of this last fall since my income qualified me), please go here and to find a program available in your state.
